Onions And Garlic Harmful?

Doctor Pup: Hi Elizabeth, let me review your history and I will be back
Elizabeth: I have read that I cant give my maltese cant have onions and garlic but I have been letting her have small amts of my chicken salad it has mrs dash garlic and onion in it is this ok to feed her or not?
Doctor Pup: There is no problem with small amounts of either. How is everything else going with her?

Doctor Pup: Let me add that the info you see about onions and garlic is real but the problem comes with heavier and repeated ingestions over longer periods of time.
